BUCYRUS—Bourbon chicken lovers now no longer have to wait until fair week or the bratwurst festival to get their hands on some.

Tacsha and Shawn Ridgeway recently opened the SuBourbon Street Shack House located inside of Suburban Lanes at 975 Hopley Ave. in Bucyrus.

Two years ago, when the couple purchased the bowling alley, they had the menu all planned out and were ready to make a go at the new venture until Covid hit.

Two years later, and they’re ready to roll.

The name, SuBourbon Street Shack House, was a group effort between Tacsha, Shawn, and their oldest daughter.

“Our oldest daughter loves bourbon chicken, and so we had the thoughts in our heads for a couple of years to do it, and every time the bratwurst festival would come around, we were worried someone else would pick up on that because that bourbon chicken line was always halfway down the street,” Shawn said. “We were sweating to get to this point, and she made the joke while we were on vacation in Florida that we were going to be serving suburban chicken, and I said, ‘there it is in terms of the name. Tacsha liked ‘the shack,’ so we threw the word ‘shack’ in there as well.”

A few features on the menu are bourbon chicken, raw oysters, jambalaya, cheese curds, chicken tenders, fried okra, sweet potato fries, homemade slaw, homemade grits, and much more.

“The stuff that is on the menu right now is something we want to try first and do for a little while to see how it goes and to see what the town wants. We have some other items that we are going to put in over the next couple of weeks. We just want to try some things and see what will stick. And then we will have our permanent menu,” Shawn said. “And anything that can be homemade is homemade.

The SuBourbon Street Shack House hours are Monday through Friday 11-2 for lunch and 4-9 for dinner, Saturdays are 4-9, and Sundays are 11-6.
