Robert “Bob” Blackford, 65, of Galion passed away Thursday, August 12, 2021, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
He was born June 7, 1956, in Galion and was the son of Robert L. and Janet (Sickmiller) Blackford.
Bob graduated from Galion High School in 1975 and proudly served his country in the United States Army and was stationed in Leavenworth, Kansas. He stayed in Leavenworth after serving in the Army and worked for the Leavenworth, Kansas Street Department and retired in 1994. In his earlier years, Bob hunted, played, and coached baseball and slow-pitch softball and formerly served as a Volunteer Firefighter with the Iberia Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed camping, fishing, riding his motorcycle, going to fairs, and watching demolition derbies. Bob loved pets, especially dogs and even more, he enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter, London.
Bob is survived by his son, Tyler (Natali) Blackford of Pickerington; daughter, Kari Blackford of Leavenworth, Kansas; granddaughter, London Blackford; a sister, Sharon (Gail) Baldinger of Galion and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Dominic Blackford.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 17, 2021at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833. Additional calling hours will be held from 10:00 a.m. to the time of service at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, Wednesday, August 18 with Rev. Joe Stafford officiating.
Full military honors will be conducted by the United States Army and the Galion Crestline Veterans Military Funeral Detail.
Memorial contributions may be made to Ronald McDonald House or Franklin County Dog Shelter in care of the funeral home.
