A new trophy was handed out in the rivalries that make up the N-10 conference Friday night as Colonel Crawford and Wynford battled for the Iron Plow Trophy.
The Wynford Royals took the first Iron Plow Trophy with ease as they defeated the Colonel Crawford Eagles 41-10.
Aryn Copeland, President of the Wynford FFA, and Taylor Lutz, President of the Colonel Crawford FFA, presented the trophy to the Wynford football team.
“Our ag advisors came up with the idea because we are such an agricultural community, and they thought we should do something to represent it,” explained Copeland.
The Eagles struck first with a touchdown from Eli Reffey with 3:45 to go in the first quarter. The Royals answered back with a 1 yard touchdown run from Keaton Teynor to knot the game up at 7.
The Royals found themselves down 10-7 after a 38 yard field goal from Crawford’s Noah Ferguson, but they responded with a touchdown from Nick Looker at 7:34 in the second to put Wynford up for good.
Running clock began in the fourth quarter when the Royals found themselves up by 30 points on another touchdown run from Looker to put the game out of reach at 41-10.
Running clock was also the story for the Buckeye Central Bucks and Crestline Bulldogs game after the teams went to the half with B.C. winning 42-0.
After the running clock was instituted at the start of the third quarter Buckeye Central scored once in the fourth to go up 49-0.
Grant Loy led Buckeye Central through the air going 6 of 10 for 106 yards and two touchdowns. Cody Roberts led B.C. on the ground with 61 yards on 8 attempts. Jordan Hernstein had 3 receptions for 40 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Crestline was held to 85 total yards by Buckeye Central’s defense.
Chase Cooke completed 2 passes on 12 attempts with 3 attempts being caught by Buckeye Central. Michael Forwith led Crestline on the ground rushing for 45 yards on 15 attempts.
In other action around the county and N-10 Bucyrus beat Seneca East 29-14. Carey edged out Mohawk 21 – 13 and Ridgedale stomped Fostoria St. Wendelin 49-18, and in the MOAC Galion defeated Keystone 14-0.
