BUCYRUS—The annual Back-To-School Supplies and Clothing Event sponsored by Bucyrus United Methodist Church is coming up fast on Thursday, August 5.
The location for this year’s no-contact pickup is moved to the church Worship Center at 227 S. Walnut St. Families who are pre-registered can pick up their supplies from 12 to 2 p.m. Non-registered families are welcome from 2 to 4 p.m. when remaining supplies will be handed out first come, first served.
Parents can still pre-register by calling the church office at 419-562-5061 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Pre-registering ensures the children get the supplies needed for their specific class according to the lists made by their teachers.
Each year, the church donates over $5,000 in school supplies and clothing to more than 400 children who are in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade; attend Bucyrus, Colonel Crawford, Wynford, and Fairway school districts, or are homeschooled; and are from financially struggling families.
The carnival and information fair normally held in conjunction with the giveaway event is on hold for the second year due to the pandemic.
Bucyrus UMC is led by Pastors Mike Corwin and Becky Stephens. Everyone is welcome to Sunday worship services at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. at the Worship Center, 227 S. Walnut, Bucyrus. The 10:30 a.m. service is also streamed live on YouTube. Offices are located at the Administration and Outreach Center at 216 Hopley Ave. The Worship Center and Outreach Center are both handicapped accessible and air-conditioned.
