MARION—Administrative Judge of the Marion County Court of Common Pleas General Division, Judge W.T. Edwards, has announced the hiring of Jennifer Ryan as the next Chief Probation Officer / Deputy Court Administrator.

The newly created position blends what were two separate court positions. Due to budget constraints, Judge Edwards combined the two.

Jennifer Ryan is an Ohio native and Marion county resident who brings a vast amount of experience to the Adult Probation Department and the Court. She attended Carnegie Mellon University, where she received her Bachelors of Science in Policy and Management with an additional major in Psychology.

After graduating from Carnegie Mellon, she earned her Juris Doctorate while studying at Capital University Law School. She also went on to earn a Masters of Science degree in Management with a National Security concentration from the University of Maryland University College in 2017.

Jennifer’s career has seen her serve the counties of Marion, Franklin, and Delaware as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, the State of Ohio as an Enforcement Attorney with the Ohio Division of Securities, the people of the state as a private attorney, and her country as a Lt. Colonel as a decorated member of the United States Army JAG Corps.

As a JAG officer, she has citations for the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Army Staff Identification Badge, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, while as an Assistant Prosecutor she has secured a dozen life sentences against sex offenders.
