On Thursday at 5:10 PM the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office was called in regards to a two-vehicle injury crash located at the intersection of SR 598 and Leesville Road. Deputies and members of the Jefferson Township Volunteer Fire Department and Paramedics from the Portsmouth Ambulance Service were dispatched as well.

Upon Deputies arrival they discovered a blue 2017 Chevrolet Trax that was driven by twenty-four-year-old Michael L. Garza from Shelby. Garza declined medical attention on the scene but was taken to the Galion Community Hospital by a family member and treated for minor injuries and released. The other vehicle involved in the crash was a maroon in color 2020 Honda CRV which was driven by forty-eight-year-old Ronald A. Garner from Mount Gilead. The front seat passenger was identified as seventy-one-year-old Carol A. Garner and her husband seventy-three-year-old Michael F. Garner who are both from Mount Gilead.

Ronald and his mother were transported by ambulance to the Galion Community Hospital and later taken to the Grant Medical Center in Columbus. A family member took Michael to the Galion Community Hospital as well where he was treated and released. The Garner’s dog was also injured and taken to a Veterinarian.

Ronk’s Towing Service removed both vehicles from the scene. Alcohol or drug use is not suspected in the crash which remains under investigation and Ronald was issued a traffic citation for failure to yield at a stop sign.
