A 50-year-old Bucyrus man earned the ire of Crawford County Common Pleas Court Judge Russell Wiseman and a six-month stay in prison on Wednesday.

Thomas McKinney pleaded guilty to one count of felony 5 breaking and entering. McKinney was sentenced to six months in prison with credit for 64 days served in the county jail. McKinney admitted breaking into an unoccupied home on East Rensselaer Street in June. One count of possession of criminal tools was dismissed.

Wiseman told McKinney he had read a letter from the victim who was an acquaintance of McKinney. McKinney was also ordered to pay $250 in restitution.

“Even though the dollar amount isn’t that great, what you did was pretty lousy. People trusted you and you betrayed them,” Wiseman told McKinney from the bench. “This was calculated. You’re a skunk.”

Twenty-six-year-old Amber Hall of Bucyrus asked for and was placed on the county’s intervention in lieu of conviction program for an initial period of two years. Hall pleaded guilty to one count of felony 5 possession of drugs.

Hall’s plea will be held and the case dismissed entirely if she successfully completes that program.

Two people were also arraigned on felony charges Wednesday.

Shawn Smith of Vinton County pleaded not guilty to one count of felony 5 drug trafficking in heroin. Smith’s bond was set at $50,000 and attorney Geoff Stoll was appointed as his legal counsel.

Jacari Davidson pleaded not guilty to one count of felony 4 receiving stolen property. Davidson, who is from Mansfield, was released on a personal recognizance bond.
