BUCYRUS—After a one-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Bucyrus Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Lodge #68 is excited to announce “Cruisin’ with the Cops” is really gearing up for 2021 and will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2021.
The downtown district will be closed from Mary St. to Oakwood Ave., starting at 12 noon on Saturday until approximately 10 p.m. Saturday or about 12 a.m. Sunday morning. Registration begins at noon and judging will be from 4 to 6 p.m. with trophies being presented at around 8 p.m.
There will be music playing throughout the downtown area, as well as a concession area located in the 100 block of East Warren Street where event-goers will find several vendors for refreshments and food. Also, we will continue with the tradition of “lapping,” but ask that the participants obey traffic rules and practice safe operations.
Currently, Lodge #68 has seen a 15 percent increase in pre-registrations for 2021, and with good weather, we are expecting a larger group of participants than in 2019 which saw 600 to 800 vehicles make their way into Bucyrus. This means every available downtown space is imperative to help maintain public safety during the event. The FOP has sent a letter to area businesses so they will be prepared for the street closures, as well as the onslaught of people and vehicles, making their way throughout town.
For any questions or concerns, please reach out to Tom Walker or Tracy Keegan at the Bucyrus Police Department (419) 562-1006.
