Shirley Ann Swihart Schimpf, 82 of Bucyrus passed away on Monday, May 10, 2021, at The Willows in Willard. Shirley was born on December 28, 1938, in Bucyrus. She was reunited with her husband of 52 years Carl Schimpf whom she married November 18, 1961. She was preceded in death by her husband on February 25, 2014, as well as her parents Wayne and Iona (Barth) Swihart; brothers Richard and Chuck Swihart; and sister Debbie McDonald.
Shirley is survived by her children Tim Schimpf and fiancé Peggy Wurm, Doug and Kelly (Huffman) Schimpf, Rob and Kathy (Schimpf) Creel, and Steve and Tina (Williams) Schimpf; her greatest pride and joys-her grandchildren Robby and Brittney Creel, Kim Creel and Andrea Nitsch, Tori, Trissa, Courtney, and Ava Schimpf; great-granddaughter Cooper Creel; and siblings Floyd (Ginny) Swihart, Faye Swihart, and Chuck and Sharon (Swihart) Hart.
Shirley graduated from Bucyrus High School in 1956 and retired from the claims department of Ohio Mutual. She dedicated her life to raising her kids and being an active grandma, attending sporting events, concerts, swim meets, recitals, grandparent’s days, and more.
In addition to being a devoted mother and grandmother, Shirley enjoyed traveling to Amish country, spending time with her friends, going out to eat, and collecting Precious Moments.
Shirley was loved and treasured as a mother, grandma, great-grandma, sibling, and friend. Her memory will be carried on by her children and grandchildren as her influences and lessons will be missed. As Shirley wished her family will continue to love each other, protect each other, and be strong support systems for each other.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 1:00 pm in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home with Dave Greenich II officiating, burial will follow in Lust Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm.
