BUCYRUS—A report of a reckless driver led to the arrest of two people on Tuesday evening.

According to Tom Walker of the Bucyrus Police Department, shortly after 6:38 p.m., Lt. Curt Bursby received a complaint of a reckless driver. While searching for the vehicle, the police department received calls of a single-vehicle crash on South Walnut Street at Wallace Avenue.

The suspect, later identified as Billy E. Patton, 51, Marion, attempted to flee the scene on foot but was stopped by concerned citizens. Patton was evaluated by EMS personnel at the scene before being released to officers.

Patton was cited for no operator’s license, reckless operation, and fictitious plates. He was held for bond and an evaluation at the Crawford County Justice Center.

The owner of the vehicle, Lindsay Stokley, 27, also of Marion, was cited for wrongful entrustment and was released pending her initial appearance in Crawford County Municipal Court.

The Bucyrus Fire Department was contacted regarding a fire hydrant that was struck as a result of the crash. Firefighters determined the fire hydrant is safe, and it will be evaluated by Bucyrus Water Department personnel for possible damage.  A street sign at the intersection was also damaged.
