CRESTLINE— From Puppet Pals and a book club to a snow insect hike, there are several activities at the Crawford Park District that are still planned for the month of February.
Puppet Pals: A Walk in the Woods on Thursday, February 18 at 6 p.m. at Lowe-Volk Park and on Friday, February 19 at 11 a.m. at Lowe-Volk Park, 2401 State Route 598 Crestline
The Crawford Park District will be offering a puppet show that will include a kids’ activity. For kids ages 3-7 and their parents. Call the Crawford Park District office at 419-683-9000 to register.
Toddler Trot: Animal Signs on Saturday, February 20 at 10 a.m. at Lowe-Volk Park, 2401 State Route 598 Crestline
Whether snow, mud, or frozen ground, join Crawford Park District Director Josh and McKinley for a stroll around the wetland and down the trails of Lowe-Volk Park looking for signs of animals. From tracks to burrows, animals leave many signs that live in the park, including their “calling card”! For children not yet in kindergarten. Snow Insect Hike on Sunday, February 21 at 2 p.m. at Lowe-Volk Park, 2401 State Route 598 Crestline
Some insects are most active on warm winter days when the ground is still snow-covered. Join Crawford Park District Naturalist Chelsea to discover which insects are active in winter and why they are most comfortable in the cold. This program will include a brief indoor presentation, concluding with a hike down to the Sandusky River to search for insects. If we are lucky, we may find the elusive Snow Scorpionfly! Book Club on Tuesday, February 23 at 6 p.m. at Lowe-Volk Park, 2401 State Route 598 Crestline
Do you love nature and also love to read? With the abundance of books available for nature lovers, sometimes it is hard to choose the next great book to read. Join the Crawford Park District’s Book Club and we will figure it out together! Pre- Registration is recommended as the club will be limited to 15 members. Call the Park District Office to register at 419-683-9000. Come armed with your favorite book about nature or a nature-centered book you want to read and be ready to make your case to the club! Meetings are held at the Lowe-Volk Park Nature Center on the last Tuesday of each month.
Infant Explorers: Snow on Wednesday, February 24 at 5 p.m. at Lowe-Volk Park, 2401 State Route 598 Crestline
Your first instinct may be to keep your babies indoors, but research tells us that infants in outdoor spaces benefit from access to a wide variety of sensory stimuli that they just can’t experience indoors. Join Crawford Park District Naturalist Abby and baby Vincenzo for a program about snow that will engage your infant’s senses and get parents and baby out of the house for some fresh air! Dress for the weather, we will be outside for at least part of the program. Call the Crawford Park District office at 419-683-9000to register.
