BUCYRUS—A domestic violence incident on Saturday led to one person being arrested on Sunday after threatening “suicide by cop” on Marion Road in Bucyrus.

Andrew J. Horner, 35, was arrested on domestic violence charges after he had barricaded himself at a residence in the 1500 block of Marion Road.

According to Lt. Tom Walker of the Bucyrus Police Department, officers responded to a domestic violence situation in the 1500 block of Marion Road on Saturday. The suspect was not present at that time but domestic violence charges were filed.

“The suspect returned home today (01/31/2021) and reportedly made threats of “suicide by cop.”  Officers secured the perimeter of the residence and called for the Crawford County Special Response Team (SRT),” said Walker.

He said when SRT arrived, the suspect was given several opportunities to surrender via loud-speaker and phone calls, but failed to respond.  The team served a search warrant on the home and the suspect was taken into custody without incident.

Horner was taken to the Crawford County Justice Center pending a court appearance.

EMS personnel assisted at the scene. Walker said no injuries were reported in the incident.
