BUCYRUS—Due to current COVID-19 restrictions and precautions, and out of an abundance of caution, the Bucyrus Rotary Club has made the difficult but necessary decision to cancel the 2021 Rotary Pancake Day breakfast that had been scheduled for Feb. 13, 2021.
Pancake Committee Chair Tami Tima helps with the kitchen operations during the yearly event.
“We love what we do, and we have gotten pretty good at doing it,” said Tima. “To completely change our operation to a drive-through only event simply wasn’t feasible – especially for just one year.”
She said the layout of the kitchen at Bucyrus High School, where the event is held annually, works well for dine-in and takeout orders, but to move to a 100 percent drive-through format would require too many adjustments to the process.
“We love the atmosphere and the chance that this fundraiser gives our club to fellowship with our community. The downside of not holding this event is the loss of that contact, but also the loss of revenue as this is our club’s second-largest fundraiser each year,” said Rotary President Ronda Scott.
Individuals or businesses that still wish to donate towards the projects that Rotary offers may simply send donations marked “canceled pancake day 2021” to Rotary Club of Bucyrus, PO Box 1214, Bucyrus, Ohio 44820.
The Bucyrus Rotary Club plans to return with the 49th annual Pancake Day on Feb. 12, 2022, at Bucyrus High School.
