BUCYRUS – The City of Bucyrus issued notice to the Central Joint Ambulance District late in 2020, notifying them that Bucyrus’ decision to withdraw from the Central Joint Ambulance District at the end of the current contract with Portsmouth Ambulance.  That contract runs through October 31, 2021. At that time, the City of Bucyrus Fire Department will assume the responsibility of responding to all 911 calls for Emergency Medical Services within the City of Bucyrus.  Representatives from the administration of the City of Bucyrus, as well as the Bucyrus Fire Department, will be reaching out to area township trustees and township fire chiefs to start conversations about how the City of Bucyrus and Bucyrus Fire Department could play a role in their Emergency Medical Services plans going forward.
