Raymond Matthew Crase, 90, of Galion passed away Friday, January 15, 2021, at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Born November 11, 1930, in Oregon County, Missouri, he was the son of Clarence E. and Mary E. (Lewallen) Crase. He married Helen M. (Fagan) Crase on January 20, 1950, and they enjoyed over 70 years together.

He was a 1948 graduate of Couch High School in Myrtle, Missouri. Ray worked at the former North Electric Company, PECO, and ITT retiring as Assistant Superintendent of Manufacturing after a 37 ½ year career. He was a member of Galion Elks 1191 and a former member of the Galion Moose 303. Ray loved playing golf as well as watching it on TV. Ray enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing Texas Hold’em, and had liked to bowl. He was a “city farmer” and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by children Dan (Stephanie) Crase of Raleigh, North Carolina, Luanne Wilcox of Galion and Carol (Kevin) Jones of Galion; grandchildren Melanie (Gavin) Parsons of Raleigh, North Carolina, Matthew Crase of Pine Knoll Shores, North Carolina, Carrie (Andrew) Rogers of Tucson, Arizona, Jeremy (Elizabeth) Sipes of Canal Winchester and Kori (Joshua) Gillam of Galion; 14 great-grandchildren; siblings Edward Frank Crase of Galion, Mary Lou (Robert) Hershner of Marble Head, Betty Stall Of Phoenix, Arizona and Phyllis McKinney of Westerville and sisters-in-law Bonnie Crase of Galion, Glenda Crase of Cape Coral, Florida and Gloria Crase of Newark.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son Thomas Steven Crase, brothers Harold Crase, Carl Crase and Jack Crase, Sr.; son-in-law Lawrence Wilcox; sister-in-law Linda Crase and brothers-in-law Edwin Stall and David McKinney.

Private services will be held for the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ohio Health Hospice or Avita Cardiac Rehabilitation Center in care of the funeral home.
