Elvera Amelia Schroeder, 98, of Galion passed away into her Lord’s presence on Monday, January 11, 2021.

She was born March 28, 1922, in Putman County, Ohio, and was the daughter of Charles and Mary (Kreinbrink) Rieman. On September 21, 1943, she married Thomas William Schroeder and they moved to Morrow County and started farming. Unfortunately, they were married only 11 years with Thomas’s passing on February 11, 1955.

Following her husband’s passing, Elvera went to work to raise her five children. She worked for 20 years at the former Tony’s Bakery in Galion and 15 years for the former Galion Dresser.

Elvera was a devout Catholic and led her life as a disciple of God. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Galion, Rosary Alter Society and a lifetime member of the Catholic Ladies of Columbia.

Elvera is survived by her children, David (Sharon) Schroeder, Doris (Mark) Hoffman, Theresa (Gary) Adkins and Joanne (Bill) Doudna; 12 grandchildren, Jenny, Tom, Jill, Tim, Todd, Tami, Barbara, Michael, Kim, Scott, Bryan and Matthew, and 25 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Marlene and Greg Spear; one sister and five brothers.

A private graveside service will be held and a memorial mass will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or St. Joseph Catholic School in care of the funeral home.
