John M. “Jack” Roseberry, 93, of Galion passed away Sunday, December 13, 2020 at the Carlisle Place in Bucyrus.
He was born January 14, 1927 in Mt. Victory, Ohio and was the son of Frank and Jesse (Hunt) Roseberry. Jack married Doris (Bolles) Roseberry on December 24, 1950 and she survives.
He was a graduate of Mechanicsburg High School and went on to serve his country in the United States Army during World War II. Jack furthered his education with a Bachelor’s degree from Ohio University and his Master’s degree from Bowling Green State University. He taught for six years in the Mechanicsburg School System, 10 years at Bucyrus City Schools and for 23 years at Colonel Crawford Schools as a principal of the Middle School.
Jack was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Galion. He has served on the board of Crawford County Council on Aging, member of American Legion Scarbrough Post 243 of Galion and the Ohio Teachers Association. He was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening, both flowers and vegetables. After retiring Jack and Doris enjoyed traveling.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Mark M. (Colleen) Roseberry of Galion, Neil F. (Carrie) Roseberry of Macedonia, Ohio and Christopher A. (Sara) Roseberry of Snowmass, Colo.; nine grandchildren, Jeremy (Carin) Roseberry, Rachel (Jordan Corwin) Roseberry, Anna Roseberry, David Roseberry, Sarah (Jonathan) Lytle, Michael (Allyson) Roseberry, Alexandra Roseberry, Jackson Roseberry and Lucas Roseberry, five great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Barbara Roseberry of Strongsville and a sister-in-law, Shirley Roseberry.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, John Roseberry, grandson, Joshua Roseberry; brother, Charles Roseberry and sisters, Rebecca Sowers and infant sister, Dolly Roseberry
Due to Covid 19 a memorial service for Jack will be held at a later time and will feature military honors.
