Joan Wilson Yanovick, longtime resident of Galion and member of St. Joseph Parish, died December 11 at 8:10AM at Saint Margaret Hall in Cincinnati, Ohio. Joan was preceded in death by her beloved husband Edward A Yanovick who died in 2007. She is survived by two children: her devoted son Edward Andrew Yanovick, II of Cincinnati, Ohio – her main pillar of strength for over 15 years – and her grateful daughter Diana Yanovick Dornquast, a resident of Miami FL and New York, NY.
Joan was born in West Virginia, the 4th and youngest daughter of Magdalene Steele Wilson and William (Bill) Wilson. She had three loving sisters – Billie Jean, Helen and Nancy who all preceded her in death. Surviving also are many nieces and nephews Joan dearly loved.
Born out of Joan’s humble and difficult beginnings was a deep personal faith that sustained her and guided her daily. She was a living example of Jesus’ two greatest commandments: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Through immense generosity of spirit, Joan’s compassion for others – especially children – knew no bounds. She not only tutored underprivileged students, she deeply loved them and took their struggles as her own. In turn, they remembered her throughout their lives with cards, gifts and calls.
We invite all of you: students, friends, neighbors, coworkers and fellow parishioners to celebrate Joan’s life of unconditional love with a Mass of Christian Burial. The service will held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 18, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Paul Fahrbach officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery where Joan will join Ed forever in the Ultimate Kingdom they both hoped for and believed in every day of their earthly lives.
