BUCYRUS – The Symphonic Hearing Aid Center is looking to give the gift of hearing this holiday season.
The clinic, 1008 S. Sandusky Ave., is partnering with hearing care professionals nationwide to donate up to $1 million worth of free hearing aids to people struggling with hearing loss as well as coping with the financial effects of the coronavirus pandemic.
“In a year that’s been filled with adversity, we want to support those in our community who are struggling with hearing loss, especially those most impacted by the pandemic,” said Sonya Keller, an audiologist and owner of Symphonic Hearing, which also operates a satellite office in Upper Sandusky.
As part of that effort, Keller said, Symphonic Hearing is accepting nominations for anyone in the community who could benefit from receiving a free set of hearing aids called “ReSound ONE.” The practice, she said, is also waiving the initial fitting fee and cost of follow-up appointments for recipients.
“I thought it would be especially nice for the holidays to do this,” said Keller, who has taken over the local full-service diagnostic and dispensing clinic founded by her mother, Toni Veloff, back in 1983. “It’s pretty nice and generous of the manufacturer, ReSound, too.”
Nominations, which must be received by Jan. 15, 2021, can be made by visiting Symphonic Hearing’s website at www.symphonichearingcenter.com , or emailing them with the name, contact information and explanation of the financial challenge faced by the nominee.
Although Symphonic Hearing is operating under strict safety protocols and sanitary guidelines due to the pandemic, Keller said, they will also accept nominations over the phone. ReSound will select recipients the week of Jan. 25, with those chosen notified the beginning of February.
“It’s been a year filled with adversity, including natural disasters, financial pressure and a global pandemic,” said Keller. “It’s been tough for so many of us, but we know it’s more important than ever to lend a hand to those affected by the events of 2020 and help them start 2021 on a high note.”
