Larry L. Kocher, 81, of Galion went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, November 27, 2020.
He was born March 14, 1939 in Bucyrus and was the son of the late Clarence W. and Dorothy (Millisor) Kocher. Larry is survived by his wife of 60 years, Judy A. (Guinther) Kocher whom he married on June 5, 1960.
He was a 1958 graduate of Whetstone High School and said he was additionally educated from the school of hard knocks. Larry could fix anything and certainly said what he meant and meant what he said.
He had many jobs including farming for many years, selling seed, driving truck for the former American Steel Grave Vault in Galion, mowing grass and plowing snow for Polk Township and owning and operating Kocher Auto and Truck Repair for 27 years in Galion.
Larry was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Crestline, Heart of Ohio Traveling Squares square dancing group, Fairview Cemetery Board President and has helped in the past with the Pickle Run Festival.
He liked to help others. Larry spearheaded and delivered supplies to hurricane victims in Homestead, Florida and the Carolinas, delivered hay to Iowa during a drought and made 14 trips to Tyrand Parish in Appalachian Country of West Virginia with the church.
He absolutely enjoyed helping his son farm, traveling with other campers and wintering in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas, collecting toy tractors, Country music, Western Boots and snowmobiling in Michigan for 39 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons Michael (Brenda) Kocher, Todd (Dawn) Kocher and Brad Kocher all of Galion; eight grandchildren, Heather (Sam) Baer, Nick (Becca) Kocher, Beth Kocher, Jennifer (Nate) Lacey, Daniel Kocher, Tyson Kocher, Leah Kocher and Kendra (Lee) Rumer; 14 great-grandchildren, soon to be 15; sister, Jeanann (Fran) Kime of Defiance; brother and sister-in-law, Bob (Helen) Guinther of Galion and sister and brother-in-law, Margaret (Charles) Brinkman of Bucyrus.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 6, 2020 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 410 North Thoman Street Crestline, Ohio 44827 with Pastor Diana Seaman officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Patient Aid Program or St. Jude Children’s Hospital in care of the funeral home.
