BUCYRUS—A Bucyrus couple is opening a second store during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Eliza and Matt Cole opened the wildly popular New2You Bargain Bins – The Unknown Treasures at the former Save-A-Lot building in the Southern Lights Shopping Center at 1705 Marion Road in May and are now opening the New2You Retail Store next door at 1715 Marion Road on Thursday, Oct. 1.
“We started the retail store out of our house almost four years ago, selling our items through Facebook Marketplace and eBay, and finally have a storefront to relocate it,” said Eliza.
The store was briefly moved to 2149 Whetstone St. before finding its permanent home on Marion Road.
She said it is exciting to help bring new life back to the Southern Lights Shopping Center.
“We could have opened both of our businesses in towns with a larger population but this is our hometown. We want to be part of the growth and success of Bucyrus,” said Eliza. “People come from all over to our Bargain Bins store and we have customers across the country through our online store so we are hoping to bring in even more people to our city.”
The New To You store will offer an array of items, from electronics to home décor and more, at deeply discounted prices.
“Unlike our Bargain Bins store, we test each item to ensure it works properly when we get in our truckloads of products. It is a risk each time we get a truckload of items but so far, we have done really well with the online retail store,” said Eliza.
Matt said their store is a great option for local residents.
“We offer amazing products at half the retail cost that people would pay at other stores,” said Matt.
Brand new chairs, bedding and glassware line the walls of the former movie theater along with Instapots, food slicers and other items as Eliza makes her way to the back area where each item is tested when they are unloaded from the trucks.
“We make sure these items are all in great shape before they are put out on the floor for people to purchase,” said Eliza.
The couple has three partners that will be assisting them in the day-to-day operations of the business since they also own and operate the Bargain Bins store on the north side of the New2You shop.
“We are so excited and cannot wait to see everyone on Thursday, our opening day,” Eliza said.
The store will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. The store is closed on Sundays and Wednesdays.
