A Bucyrus woman was killed Wednesday evening when another driver crossed over a white line and hit her.

Thirty-eight year old Bucyrus resident Stephanie Cowgill had just pulled over to the edge of the U.S. 23 southbound entrance ramp from Ohio 199 to get an item from the trunk of her car when a truck drove by 29-year-old Wade Gottfried of Nevada crossed the lines. Gottfried had been traveling east on the U.S. 23 south entrance ramp in his 2006 Ford F-250 when the truck went off the right side of the white lines and struck the left side of Cowgill’s 2000 Chevrolet Lumina. The truck then also struck Cowgill.

Cowgill died at the scene. Her two children and three dogs, which had been in the vehicle at the time of the crash, were not injured.
The Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office continued to investigate the crash. The Upper Sandusky Police and Fire departments and Wyandot County EMS assisted the Sheriff’s Office at the scene.
