Twenty teams of students from across Ohio competed on June 9-10, 2014 at the State Enviorothon. The State Envirothon was held in Guernsey county at Salt Fork State Park. The top four teams from each of the five Area Envirothons across the state continue to the state competition. The competition ended with Wynford students winning 1st place in the wildlife testing station and 7th overall.

The Envirothon is a multi-disciplinary, environmental problem solving competition hosted by Soil and Water Conservation Districts. Teams of four to five high school students train and compete in soils, aquatics, forestry, wildlife, and current environmental issues.

The team would like to thank the following for their efforts and time in preparing for this contest: Beth Heinlen Wynford, Steve McGinnis ODNR department of Forestry, Cody Kent Wynford Alumna student at Ohio Wesleyan, Josh Dyer Crawford Park District, and special thanks to the Crawford SWCD and Diane Sand for helping to get the students registered for the 2014 Envirothon season.

The students were busy during and dedicated their first week of summer vacation attending study sessions and practices with the above named individuals which enriched their knowledge and understanding for the State of Ohio contest.

This young team has perpetuated the successes of Wynford teams at the state level. Since 2007 the Envirothon Royals have earned runners up status twice, third once, while winning numerous individual tests through their 5 appearances at the state contest.
