Bucyrus residents know who their mayor is at the moment, but not who will be in office come July 5.
Current interim Mayor Sis Love withdrew her name as a possible replacement for the late Roger Moore Thursday night at the Crawford County Republican Central Committee’s meeting.
While the committee was discussing how to go about replacing the mayor, Love withdrew her name as a possible candidate. As current City Council president, she is the acting interim mayor until another one is appointed. She was sworn in the morning after Moore died unexpectedly the evening of May 20.
“It certainly is a job I would absolutely love to do, and probably four or five years ago I would have jumped at the opportunity, but it was a family decision,” Love said. “I got together with all three of my kids and we talked what we were all looking for, and what kind of lifestyle, what was going to change for us. They know that I love the City Council president job and working at that. So they said, ‘Mom why don’t you stay with that.’”
“I have worked my entire life at high stress level jobs, and now it is time to relax,” Love continued.
Bucyrus members of the Republican Central Committee met after the meeting setting another meeting for 4 p.m. on Monday in the Lower Level of the Court House to discuss the matter further.
The Crawford County Republican Central Committee has until July 4 to fill the vacancy.
The Bucyrus mayoral position wasn’t the only item discussed as the Republican Central Committee reorganized the administrative staff, as well as voted on the Republican Executive Committee.
