BUCYRUS — The Bucyrus Fire Department responded to its second house fire in two days as it responded to a call Wednesday morning.

Firefighters responded to 124 Gaius Street shortly before 8:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.

One female resident was reported to be home at the time of the fire and called 911. Another female resident arrived home shortly after with a pet dog. No residents were injured as a result of the fire and cat also was removed from the house.

Another dog and cat were unaccounted for while crews were on scene.

According to firefighters on scene, the fire appeared to have started on the back porch near a corner of the house next to a detached garage. The back porch, kitchen and dining room were figured to be total losses.

The fire spread to the garage but was contained and there was smoke damage throughout the house.

Also responding to the scene was the Galion Fire Department, Bucyrus Police Department and Portsmouth Emergency Ambulance Service.

Though the location of the fire was known, the cause was still under investigation.
