There were plenty of oohs and ahhhs under the big top Tuesday evening in Galion as the Culpepper and Merriweather Circus performed two shows at Heise Park.

IMG_1973Touring since 1985 the C & M Circus packed attendees under a big top tent where they were entertained by lion tamers, acrobats, daredevils, and laughs from Leo the Clown. Ring Master Miss Simone pulled double duty also performing the trapeze.

Alissa Heckert attended the circus with her family explained her favorite part of the show.

“My favorite part was probably the lions, the gymnastic part and the wheel,” Alissa said. “It’s great, it is awesome.”

Outside the big top the midway featured horse rides, face painting, and slides.

Davante Avila who was at the circus with his brother and father said, “I think it was weird that dude was juggling on a unicycle with torches. My favorite part though was the lions and tigers.”

Davonte’s brother Damarian said, “My favorite part was when the girl was swinging on the handles.”

The shows ran from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 to 9 p.m. and were sponsored by the Galion Kiwanis Club, and Rotary Club.
