BUCYRUS―When law enforcement served a search warrant on Saturday evening at a West Mansfield Street residence, they found something they were not expecting.
“One person appeared to be overdosing when officers arrived,” said Bucyrus Police Chief Dave Koepke.
He said the man was Jason Utz, 46, of Bucyrus, who was treated at the home, located at 229 W. Mansfield St., by EMS personnel. Utz was taken by ambulance to Bucyrus Community Hospital and placed under arrest for possession of drugs. He was later transported to the Crawford County Justice Center.
“A syringe was found underneath Utz,” said Koepke.
Zachery Marshall, 32, was arrested for permitting drug abuse and Kayla Neely, 26, was arrested on two Wyandot County warrants. Both were also taken to the Crawford County Justice Center to be held for court.
Officers recovered suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia.
Koepke reminds local residents that Operation Hope and a multitude of other programs are available throughout the city to assist addicts in obtaining treatment. Call the police department at 419-562-1006 for more information.
