A Bucyrus man will celebrate his 21st birthday today – in prison. Joshua Osborne pleaded guilty Tuesday to a fifth-degree felony charge of drug possession.
In accordance with a plea arrangement worked out with the County Prosecutor’s Office, Osborne was sentenced by Judge Russell Wiseman to six months in prison. Osborne was apprehended by Bucyrus police in February with heroin in his possession.
Osborne was also given a mandatory $1,250 drug fine.
In an unrelated case Tuesday, Ezra Benedict was placed on community control for one year after he pleaded guilty to illegal use of food stamps. A charge of theft against Benedict was dismissed in exchange for his guilty plea.
If Benedict fails to successfully complete his term of community control, he could be sentenced to 12 months in prison.
