CRESTLINE — After a short executive session, Crestline Village Council unanimously voted to allow the sale of property in the downtown area and the lease of the iconic gazebo in the downtown area.

According to Village Administrator John Rostash, the Crestline Community Improvement Corporation will sell the property in which the gazebo is located to Joe Dzugan.

“He purchased the adjoining property that is land-locked,” Rostash said. “By doing this, it will allow for more parking in that area in the future. The village will maintain control over the gazebo so the use of the gazebo for community events will not change.”

Council also approved a resolution to confirm the mayor’s appointment of Christopher D. East as a full-time firefighter for the village.

“I have worked for the department as a part-time fighter and medic and look forward to being on the department full-time,” East said.

Rostash said the water treatment plant and collection system improvement project is on track with engineers from Prime AE Group meeting last Friday to discuss the development plan and options for the Park Road Lift Station Screen.

“I also want to welcome Cassie Sager to the Crestline team,” he said. “She is a graduate of Kent State and will be working in an intern-type capacity.”

He said Sager will be running weekly Facebook posts highlighting local businesses and things to do in and around Crestline.

Rostash thanked Denise Kelso Moyer for pulling weeds and putting up lights in the pedestrian alley between the Parr Insurance building and Carolyn’s Hair Salon.

The next council meeting is Oct. 7 at 6:30 p.m.
