NORTH ROBINSON — The Colonel Crawford Local Schools Board of Education approved a few pre-school year items before the first day.
The board passed bus routes, a transportation contract with the Council on Aging for one student with special needs, and another transportation contract with Ohio Specialty Services for two students with special needs.
Online blizzard bags for days 6-8 have been approved with the CCEA in the event of any cancellations more than five days.
A contract was signed with Community Counseling Services, an organization that provides counseling to students at school who have special emotional needs instead of trying to arrange something at home. The parents sign off on it and Community Counseling takes no more money that what insurance will pay for.
“It’s a pretty good deal for parents, kids, and us and it is a pretty good program,” Superintendent Todd Martin said. They also do our ‘Signs of Suicide’ program that helps our students.”
If a student is identified as having suicidal tendencies, Community Counseling will come and talk to the student to help them.
Board members took a tour of the building on Monday evening during Colonel Crawford’s open house in order to check out the classrooms and see the students who will be attending Colonel Crawford Local Schools this school year.
School officially began Tuesday for the Eagles; however, sophomores, juniors, and seniors don’t start until Wednesday. In the high school, only freshmen attended school the 20th for Frosh Fest.
The next board meeting is Sept. 23 at 7 p.m.
