The Crawford County Fair will remain in its third full week of July spot for the 2015 fair season after the Senior Fair Board opted to stay put in a close vote Wednesday night.

With numerous viewpoints as to why the fair should change dates, or stay at its current spot, discussed over the past few meetings the final vote came down to 11 votes for keeping the fair the same week to 9 votes for moving the fair.

The Fair Board approved $3,550 for livestock committee improvements. The monies will go towards the purchase of fans, pens, and cages. The money will be paid out of the Livestock Committee fund.

It was also voted Wednesday that with food not allowed in the sale arena, the sale meal will be held in a tent outside the arena. The 4-H booth will supply the meal.

Also approved for the Livestock Committee was the rental of a 12-feet-by-38-feet’ building which will serve as a sale office/meeting building during the week of fair. The cost for the building was estimated at $2,658.42 for one month of use, delivery, installation, removal and insurance.

During Junior Fair’s report the Fair Board approved their suggestion of holding a pancake breakfast from 6 until 9 a.m. in the Youth Building on the opening day of the fair.

Also approved was looking into replacing the locks in the restrooms of the Youth Building.

The Junior Fair will hold a fund raiser at Pizza Hut in Galion from 5:30. to 8 p.m. on June 3.

The next Crawford County Fair Board Meeting will be held at 8 p.m., May 28.
