The E.A.R.T.H. workshop is a 2-day, hands-on learning event, hosted by Seneca, Crawford and Marion Soil & Water Conservation Districts for teachers. On June 17 and 18, this year’s workshop will be held at Wynford High School, outside of Bucyrus. The theme for the sessions and field trips is “Digging In” to Real Science. Providing lessons, resources, experts and activities to teach the Next Generation Science Standards in fun and effective ways is the goal of the workshop. Sessions are provided for all grade levels (PreK-12) and are cross curricular.
The keynote speaker will be Dale Arnold, Ohio Farm Bureau, who will speak on Ohio’s Energy Policies and Initiatives – Using Science to Make Decisions in the Real World. Some of the other highlighted sessions include Google Earth & GPS, Lepidoptera in Life Science, Wonders of Water, Real Research and Climate Change. Some of the field trips planned are to dairy and game farms, local family-owned businesses, a native prairie and more. New this year will also be a session for Growing Up Wild, a curriculum for teaching ages 3-7 to explore the natural world. For a full list of sessions and agenda visit www.senecaswcd.com.
