A Galion man died Saturday afternoon as a result of injuries he sustained while working at his home on North Market Street. Fifty-eight-year-old Robert Godby was using hand shears to trim shrubs around his home when he apparently fell and punctured his chest on the shears.

The injuries were reportedly to his lung and aorta. A passing motorist saw Godby lying injured and stopped. Godby was taken to Galion Community Hospital where efforts to stabilize and revive him were unsuccessful.

Godby was very active at Gospel Baptist Church and often assisted with special projects in his wife Terri’s classes at Colonel Crawford where she teaches. Godby is survived by his wife and two adult children. Funeral services are pending.
