A sea of red is not something one would normally see in the domain of royal blue Wynford, but that is exactly what happened a few weeks ago.

The Wynford Local School District came together to support the Noah Lear family, who may have been a part of the Royals’ closest rival, but was still a part of the local community. The Royals held various fundraisers – from a Kiss the Pig and a Pie in the Face events to jeans and hats days – and raised $2,844.47 for the Lear family. A basketball auctioned off during Wynford’s PTO Fun Night raised an additional $815 while an anonymous donor donated $2,500 to the cause.

“On our hat day students also wore red in Noah’s honor, seeing a sea of red in our royal blue halls. It was a sight to see,” said Wynford Elementary Principal Nelle Nutter.

At a recent Board of Education meeting, Bucyrus Superintendent Kevin Kimmel recognized the support area schools gave the Redmen community and Lear’s family. A benefit was also held on April 2 to help pay for Lear’s medical and funeral costs.
