The Saunders case wasn’t the only case heard in Crawford County Common Pleas Court on Wednesday, as other suspected offenders had to face the judge.
Twenty-eight-year-old Jonathan Fletcher pleaded guilty to felony 3 retaliation and felony 5 theft. The pleas came with a 12-month and a six-month prison sentence, which will be served consecutively for a total of 18 months in prison. Fletcher must also pay restitution in the amount of $294.75.
Judge Sean Leuthold relented a bit with Fletcher after the defendant pleaded guilty and apologized for his actions. As a result, the judge said he will not order Fletcher to serve 60 days in the county jail after being held in contempt of court on July 19.

Tristan Pival’s sentence may seem harsh at first, but Leuthold had a reason for handing down such a sentence.
The 32-year-old Bucyrus woman pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property on July 6 and was released as she awaited a pre-sentence investigation. During that time, however, Pival tested positive for marijuana, violating the terms of her bond and making her eligible for prison.
Assistant prosecutor Ryan Hoovler recommended a seven-month prison sentence.
“It’s very difficult to find out that Tristan messed up,” the victim in the case said. “I believe she needs help for (drug addiction) more than she needs prison.”
Though family members pleaded for treatment, Leuthold felt a harsher punishment was deserved.
“I see someone who stole a wedding ring with tremendous value way above $430,” Leuthold told Pival. “The days of babying and coddling are over . . . I’m going to give you a taste of what prison is like.”
Leuthold ordered Pival to serve 11 months in prison, but ordered her attorney Brian Gernert to file for judicial release after 45 days. At that point, Leuthold said, he would gladly enroll Pival in the ISAT program and work on her sobriety.

Sheena Love’s recommended sentence will include community control after the 30-year-old
Mt. Gilead woman pleaded guilty to theft, a fourth-degree felony. Leuthold ordered a pre-sentence investigation and released Love on a personal recognizance bond. The recommended sentence will also include entrance into the Intensive Supervision and Treatment Program, a $1,250 fine, and restitution of $3,573.
Two men were arraigned on new charges.
Fifty-four-year-old James Baldwin, of Caledonia, was charged with two felony 5 counts of theft. Those are in addition to three other counts of theft Baldwin was arraigned on earlier this month. Thomas Nicholson was appointed as Baldwin’s attorney and bond was set at $10,000.
Ronald Kilgore, 50, of Bucyrus, was arraigned on a felony 5 possession of drugs charge. Kilgore allegedly possessed Oxycodone on June 23. Leuthold appointed Gernert as Kilgore’s attorney and released him on a personal recognizance bond.
