Law enforcement authorities were busy last week in the local ongoing battle against the illegal drug trade and were right back at it Thursday night.

The Galion Police Department was assisted by the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office and Bucyrus Police Department in executing a search warrant at 243 South Market Street in Galion. The search warrant was a result of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking.

Janessa DotsonArrested during the execution of that warrant were 26-year-old Janessa Dotson and 36-year-old Thomas Kouns, both of whom live at the address where the search warrant was executed.

Dotson is currently charged with trafficking in heroin and Kouns with permitting drug abuse. Both were placed in custody and transported to the Crawford County Justice Center.

“Our officers and detectives continue to work together and in Thomas Kounscooperation with our neighboring agencies to make our neighborhoods safe,” said Galion Police Chief Brian Saterfield. “You know that you are doing the right things when neighbors as well as the local community drives by during one of these events and they give you a ‘thumbs-up’ and actually tell you ‘thank you’ as they drive by.”

During the search officers located drug paraphernalia as well as evidence of trafficking in drugs. The criminal investigation has been sent to the Crawford County Prosecutor’s Office for the filing of formal charges.
