Three people are off to prison after spending a day in Crawford County Common Pleas Court.

A first-degree felony has landed 29-year-old Matthew Lust a number of years in prison. The Bucyrus man pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery. Lust admitted to recklessly having a deadly weapon under control while in the commission of an offense.

“I had no intention of hurting anybody,” Lust told Judge Russell Wiseman, explaining that he had a BB gun in his possession while robbing Circle K.

Lust will serve a five-year prison sentence and will be given 261 days’ worth of jail time credit. Upon his release from prison he will serve a mandatory five years on post release control. Lust must also pay a $2,500 fine and forfeit any weapons and other property seized by the Bucyrus Police Department.

Third time was not the charm for 34-year-old Tyrone Bowman. The Galion man pleaded guilty to possessing heroin on Oct. 30, 2013 and admitted to probation violations that occurred in December and January.

Bowman was sentenced to 12 months in prison with no jail time credit. His license was suspended for six months and he must pay a $1,250 mandatory drug fine. Any drug-related property held by the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office must also be forfeited. Wiseman terminated Bowman unsuccessfully from his probation in two 2009 cases.

Bowman apologized to his family and pleaded for help.

“I need to get some kind of help, treatment. I’ve been a drug addict since 2003,” Bowman said.

After reviewing Bowman’s past history in Crawford County and his plea deal, Wiseman said it was a little late for Bowman to be pleading for help from the court when he already agreed to his deal.

“Apparently we were not able to dissuade you from your criminal behavior,” Wiseman said.

Robert Osborne of Galion pleaded guilty to two counts of drug possession. The 26-year-old man admitted to possessing Methadone and K2 on Feb. 27. Osborn was sentenced to nine months in prison on each count, which will be served concurrently. He will also receive 170 days of jail time credit. Osborn’s driver’s license was suspended for six months and he was ordered to pay a $1,250 mandatory drug fine. He was also ordered to forfeit any drug-related property currently being held by the Galion Police Department.

Twenty-eight-year-old Robert Byrne of Bucyrus pleaded guilty to a fifth-degree felony breaking and entering charge. He admitted to trespassing land when he entered a barn and took tools on Aug. 5.

Byrne will be on community control for five years and must successfully complete a drug and alcohol assessment along with any follow-up treatment. He must also pay $5,757.95 in restitution to the victim.
