Judge Sean Leuthold ordered 19-year-old Dominique Benedict to be held on a $50,000 bond last week after the teen failed to show respect to the court or remorse for his crimes. After having Benedict spend the weekend in the county jail, Leuthold approved a motion to reduce the bond to a personal recognizance bond with the belief that he finally got Benedict’s attention.
“I am sorry for the way I acted,” Benedict said. “I understand now the way I dressed was inappropriate.”
“You should consider yourself very lucky,” Leuthold responded, “because you were getting yourself very close to contemptuous behavior.”
A sentencing hearing will be set at a later date after the court receives the results of Benedict’s pre-sentence investigation.
