Wendy Zucal, Executive Director of the Dennison Railroad Museum, will reveal the experiences she has had leading the restoration of Dennison’s old, formerly abandoned rail depot into a popular museum and tourist attraction, “Dreamsville USA,” in a presentation to be made in Galion on March 5.
Zucal will discuss what a depot restoration means in terms of community value, economic development, jobs, tourism dollars and pride. She has been involved with the Southeastern Ohio rail station since its rebirth in 1992 and will review how Dennison created a unique interpretive WWII and local history museum, a restaurant, Bed and Breakfast and much more.
It is hoped the talk will help the City of Galion and others to create a vision on how Galion’s historic Big Four Depot might be re-purposed. The event is being co-sponsored by the Galion Historical Society and its affiliate advocacy group, Friends of the Big Four Depot.
