The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office and METRICH is encouraging residents to clean out their medicine cabinets and pills boxes in search of expired and unused medications.
This Saturday is National Prescription Drug Take Back Day and in cooperation with Operation Medicine Cabinet the Sheriff’s Office is providing a drop-off site in the lobby of the Crawford County Justice Center to confidentially dispose of those medications. No personal information will be collected. The drop-off time is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Items that will be accepted include: prescription pills of any kind, over-the-counter medications, medication samples, pet medications and vitamins.
Items that will not be accepted: Needles, syringes, lancets, thermometers, aerosol cans, IV bags, hydrogen peroxide, bloody or infectious waste, empty containers, personal products like non-medicated shampoo.
Please remove all prescription labels before arriving at the drop-off site.
