The City of Galion, in partnership with the Galion Ministerial Association and other community groups, will be holding a Community Clean Up Day on Saturday, May 21, 2016.
We are encouraging all City of Galion residents to use this opportunity to be GALION PROUD and to take part in NEIGHBORS HELPING NEIGHBORS to do some spring cleaning! This is your opportunity to get your yard spruced up and looking great! Volunteers will be available to assist those who request some help.
The day will be kicked off at 8:00 a.m. with a free breakfast for volunteers served by Galion Grace Point Church in their Christian Life Center gymnasium. Volunteers will receive their assignments and begin work at 9:00 a.m. Event t-shirts can be purchased for $7.
The city will be collecting:
- Appliances (stoves, refrigerators, air conditioners and washers/dryers)
- Yard waste (must be in lawn and leaf bags and is limited to limbs, brush, grass, weeds, leaves)
- Tires
- Furniture, including couches and mattresses
You and /or your volunteer can collect and dispose of:
- Trash (to be taken to designated dumpsters in Heise and East Parks)
- Medication (to be taken to the permanent drop box at the Police Department)
The city will NOT be collecting:
- Hazardous waste (cleaners, stains, varnishes, batteries, automotive fluids, pesticides, herbicides, certain paints, etc.)
- Electronics (anything computer related, TV’s, cell phones, digital cameras, MP3 players, DVD players, satellite receivers, video cassette recorders, electronic games, etc.)
Recycling trailers will also be available in Heise Park and East Park on Saturday and Sunday with profits going to local Scout troops. The Taylor Road Composting Station will remain open until 5:00 on Saturday to allow for additional drop-offs.
