One man will be able to avoid going out in the brutally cold weather that will continue to blanket the region over the next day but the trip he will take won’t exactly equal sun, sand and beaches.
Jeremiah Carroll pleaded guilty to an amended felony two robbery charge in Crawford County Common Pleas Court Monday afternoon. Carroll, who had been facing a first degree felony for aggravated robbery before his plea agreement, will now be serving 48 months in prison.
The twenty-seven-year-old Mansfield man admitted to recklessly committing a theft offense with the intent to commit physical harm on June 13, 2013.
Carroll will be credited for the 12 days he had already served in the county jail and could receive judicial release after nine months in prison. He must complete a drug and alcohol assessment as well as any recommended follow-up treatment. Carroll was also ordered to pay a $750 fine and $350 in restitution.
Timothy Woods will definitely be paying for his crimes—both in time and in dollars. Woods, 39, of Galion, pleaded guilty to a felony four domestic violence charge and a felony five criminal non-support charge.
Woods admitted to attempting to cause physical harm to someone in his home on April 27, 2013. He had previously been convicted of a domestic violence charge in Summit County in 2005. Woods also admitted to failing to provide adequate support to his minor children for over 100 consecutive weeks.
Though Woods received credit for the six days he has already served in the county jail, he will still be serving six months in prison for the domestic violence charge. He has a commitment date of March 3, 2014 to report to the county jail to be transported to prison. He must also pay a $500 fine.
Woods will also serve three years of community control after he is released from prison for the criminal non-support charge. He was ordered to pay $67,278.02 in back child support.
Ryan Staton pleaded guilty to an amended felony four burglary charge. Twenty-nine-year-old Staton, of Bucyrus, admitted to trespassing at someone’s home on Aug. 6, 2013. He was placed on community control for three years and was ordered to complete a drug and alcohol assessment, as well as any recommended follow-up treatment. Staton must also pay a $750 fine and $1,369 in restitution to the victim.
Twenty-year-old Dakota Commodore of Crestline failed to show for his scheduled court appearance Monday afternoon. His attorney, Geoffrey Stoll, said he had notified Commodore of his appointment but had not heard from him that day. Judge Russell Wiseman issued a warrant for his arrest. Commodore had been charged with a fourth degree felony of receiving stolen property and was expected in court for a diversion hearing.
