For nearly three decades the Bucyrus Model Railroad Association has held a show to entice model railroad enthusiasts and Saturday was the 29th edition.

The show is an opportunity for collectors and newcomers to the hobby to add to their collection of model train cars and memorabilia. Association president Dave Moore was pleased with the turnout.

“We have a very good selection of stuff in the sales room. I’m really pleased with the variety. We have people coming in and buying which makes my dealers very happy which in turn makes me very happy because I know they’re going to come back,” Moore said. “Then we had a train flip layout open. I’m happy about the day.”

Moore suggested those those interested in getting started in model railroading, not buy the first thing they see and do some research before spending money.

“Back in the ’40s you would buy a model train set and have to put them all together,” Moore said. “Now you just buy them and they are ready to put on the track.”

The Bucyrus Model Railroad Association meets every Sunday afternoon from 2-5 at its building located at the Crawford County Fairgrounds for anyone interested in coming to just look around or become a member.
