BUCYRUS — A 29-year-old female inmate at the Crawford County Justice Center was found unresponsive, while staff conducted routine checks, at approximately 1:04 a.m.
Staff administered CPR until Portsmouth Emergency Ambulance Service and Bucyrus Fire Department arrived on scene. CPR was unsuccessful, and the inmate was pronounced dead.
The Crawford County Coroner was called to the jail and an autopsy will be conducted by the Lucas County Coroner’s Office. The cause of death is not known at this time.
Detectives also are investigating the inmate’s death.
The identity of the inmate is not being released at this time, until next of kin can be notified. No further details are available at this time.
