It’s safe to say that it has been a hectic two weeks for the Galion Police Department. Among calls concerning fireworks, suspicious persons, and traffic stops, the police department also managed to arrest 18 people between June 24 and July 6.
Thirty-five-year-old Gabriel Soto-Valdez was arrested on June 24 for discharging firearms and aggravated menacing.
Thirty-three-year-old Isaac Bush of Iberia was arrested June 25 for receiving stolen property, resisting arrest, theft, and criminal trespass.
Twenty-year-old Aron C. Ritchey was arrested June 26 for domestic violence and unlawful restraint.
On June 27, officers arrested 20-year-old Kaleb R. Saunders for theft.
Those arrests were followed by two more on June 28. Twenty-six-year-old Derek Bruce Snyder was arrested shortly after 5 p.m. on a warrant out of the Ontario Police Department and two warrants from the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office. He was issued a date to appear in court.
A short time later, a call came in to the Galion Police Department regarding a breaking and entering in progress at Keep It Classy Carwash. Three suspects had been attempting to break in to the business’s coin machine. Lawrence Paone Jr. was arrested.
Two more people were arrested on June 29. Twenty-year-old George Winchester Wilburn was arrested for public indecency and 58-year-old Sharon A. Kaple of Bucyrus was arrested for theft. Those arrests were unrelated.
The lists of weekend arrests spilled over into the new week on June 30 when 25-year-old Dustin Hammond was arrested for disorderly conduct and 23-year-old Shannon Mullins was arrested on a warrant out of the Richland County Sheriff’s Office.
Three people were charged with disorderly conduct between July 1 and July 5. Those charges involved 38-year-old Marcus J. Recher of Mansfield, 25-year-old Sarah L. Cole, and 57-year-old Sherry M. Brooks.
Twenty-four-year-old Kristina L. Guerrero was arrested July 6 for domestic violence.
Also arrested during the two-week time period were 28-year-old James Alan Zeger, 34-year-old Aaron L. Shellhorn, 30-year-old David Joseph Jackson, and 24-year-old Melissa L. Johns.
The Galion Police Department also received a rash of theft from vehicles complaints on June 27. The department received seven complaints that day concerning the thefts. In many cases windows were smashed. The thefts occurred on Payne Ave., Market St., Erie St., Fortney Ave., and Park Ave.
Bucyrus police arrested 26-year-old Nathan Rickett in the 200 block of E. Warren St. Monday afternoon on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was issued a summons to appear in court and was released.
Police also issued a summons to 24-year-old Jamie Boyd to appear in court on charges of assault. Those charges stemmed from a previous incident on Wilbur St.
