The City of Galion released a statement Thursday morning regarding the health of Mayor Tom O’Leary.
According to the city, O’Leary suffered an abdominal aortic aneurysm on May 3. He was life-flighted to Riverside Methodist Hospital where emergency surgery was performed. He is in critical but stable condition in the intensive care unit.
An abdominal aortic aneurysm is an enlarged area in the lower part of the aorta, the major blood vessel that supplies blood to the body which runs from the heart to the abdomen.
Updates on O’Leary’s condition will be released as they become available.
“I wish Tom a speedy recovery. Everyone at the city is keeping him and the family in mind. City operations will continue as normal,” City Council President Carl Watt said.

Mayor Tom O’Leary remains in the intensive care unit at Riverside Hospital. While his condition is critical he is making daily improvements. His vital signs are stable and he is responsive.
The O’Leary family wishes to thank everyone for the outpouring of support and prayers and ask that you continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
