A former Morrow County resident quickly learned how things worked in Crawford County when he appeared in court Tuesday morning.

Twenty-four-year-old Steven Conner pleaded guilty to fifth-degree drug possession in Crawford County Common Pleas Court. He was sentenced to five years of community control, fined $1,250, and must successfully complete a drug and alcohol treatment program. A charge of the illegal assembly of the manufacture of drugs was dismissed as part of the guilty plea.

When asked by Judge Sean Leuthold, Conner said he was originally from neighboring Morrow County, but now lived in Galion.

“You know how things work here?” the judge asked Conner.

“I’ve heard some, sir,” Conner admitted.

“It’s all true,” Leuthold warned. “This is not Morrow County or Franklin County.”

Brad Tanner admitted to violating his intervention in lieu of conviction program, but, according to Ohio laws, he will not serve any prison time just yet.

Tanner admitted that he pleaded guilty in Crawford County Municipal Court to the unauthorized use of property and tested positive on a urinalysis for methamphetamines and amphetamines. Though he was on the intervention program for two separate charges, Tanner was not prison eligible.

Leuthold rolled his eyes and sighed when Tanner said he was 37 years old.

“You’re 37. You look like you’re 48 and act like you’re 12,” the judge said. “Stop acting like a horse’s behind.”

Leuthold ordered Tanner to be released on a personal recognizance bond and requested the matter be set for a sentencing hearing.

“I’m going to give him a little bit of rope and see what happens here,” Leuthold explained. “If you screw this up, I’ll bury you in the county jail.”

Tanner entered guilty pleas for deception to obtain a dangerous drug and forgery in 2015. He was placed on intervention in both cases.
