The Bucyrus City Council took the next step into the East Southern Avenue detention pond project Tuesday night.
While the Crawford County Fair Board, as well as a few members of Bucyrus City Council, had some issues with the project during the December 14 joint committee meetings, council passed the measure unanimously that would allow the Service-Safety Director to advertise for bids and enter into a contract not exceeding $592,000 with the lowest and best qualified bidder for the project.

While the bid for the project has already come in, auditor Joyce Schifer requested the actual numbers; however, those couldn’t be procured at the time of the Finance Committee meeting held prior to the council meeting Tuesday night.
The Bucyrus City Council approved the budget for 2017, which carries a grand total for all funds to operate the city at $30,300,232.32.

The Bucyrus Public Library requested that Sandy Shields, whose term expires at the end of 2016, be approved for another three year term on the Bucyrus Public Library Board of Trustees. Council placed the matter into the Economic Development Committee.
The Bucyrus Planning Commission requested zoning code changes for Avita Health System and Hometown Garage. Both requests were transferred to the Platting Committee.
