The Positive Seekers are looking for a few good men and women – and even some businesses – as it gathers sponsorships for its second annual Red, White and Blues event at Aumiller Park in July.
Red, White, and Blues is a family-friendly event that featured live music, events, and even a cannon last year. This year the Positive Seekers are looking to make the event bigger and even open it up to the entire county.
“We want this to be something special for Bucyrus that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg for families,” said Positive Seekers president Joe Graham.
One of the biggest wishes the Positive Seekers has for this year’s event is the possibility to have free swimming at Aumiller Pool for the day. The group is offering a number of free passes to certain sponsorship levels, but currently does not have the funds to open the pool for free to everyone.
Bucyrus Service/Safety Director Jeff Wagner estimated it would cost $500 to rent the pool for the day. Council member Dan Wirebaugh challenged community members and businesses to step forward to make the donation.
“Whoever’s out there, step up and do that,” Wirebaugh encouraged during Tuesday night’s Bucyrus City Council meeting.
Anyone wishing to make the donation should contact the Mayor’s office at 419-562-6767 ext. 221.
Altercare of Bucyrus has already donated hot dogs and buns for the event, but the Positive Seekers hope to add more sponsors in order to have additional entertainment.
To become a sponsor for Red, White, and Blues contact Graham at 419-569-4177, Carolyn Shireman at 419-689-2761 or 419-562-0993, or visit the Positive Seekers Facebook page.
This year’s Red, White and Blues event is set for 2 – 7 p.m. on July 3.
