With the construction of the high school wing nearing completion each day the Colonel Crawford Board of Education took a tour of the facility to see the progress being made prior to its board meeting Monday.
Studer-Obringer is the general contractor for the project which is expected to be completed and the high school moved in by the second week of November. Walls of the hallway are painted and waiting for the flooring to be completed and lockers added. The drop ceiling is two weeks away from being installed. As the board members viewed what has been completed so far, they were satisfied with the progress made.
Todd Martin explained that working with Studer-Obringer has been great.
“We are very happy. Studer -Obringer has done a phenomenal job of putting it up and catching little things here and there and making suggestions and we go back to the table with the state. Every suggestion they have made has been for upgrades and the state has approved every one of them,” Martin said. “I’m delighted to have a local doing the project.”
“Studer-Obringer has been great; they have taken suggestions as well as given suggestions that have improved the school that has been approved. Andy Studer has been really wonderful to work with,” Norm Huber added.

With installation of cabinetry as well as tables, math, science labs, and the faculty workstation rooms are nearly complete. The classroom doors will be wooden and will match the color schemes of the other buildings.
“When construction is complete I think we should have an open house open to the public,” Board of Education President Tim Ley added.
While voters turned down ballot measure for construction of a gymnasium, Martin noted that the building is prepared if the school can construct one in the future.
As construction wraps up on the new high school wing, the old high school’s abatement is scheduled to begin Nov. 15. The school will hold an auction of items from the old building on Nov. 14.
